Hundreds of people welcome The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall to Braunton
HUNDREDS of people in Braunton waved, cheered and clapped to give a right royal welcome to the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall on Tuesday.
The visit followed the recent flooding in which businesses and homes were inundated by several feet of water. Prince Charles had specifically asked to visit Braunton to see for himself the damage caused and show his support.
The couple visited some of the businesses worst affected by the flooding in Caen Street and went out of their way to shake hands and chat with people. Youngsters made banners, bunting and their own crowns for the special occasion.
After the walkabout the royal couple attended a reception in the parish hall where they met residents, emergency services personnel and volunteers.
