At 12.01am, the tills opened and gamers were quick to purchase the sequel to the 2010 Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Fans of the franchise, which has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide, had pre-ordered a special edition of the shooter game weeks in advance meaning they simply had to collect their copy from the till at midnight.
Others were able to purchase the standard edition, as well as an array of merchandise on offer including t-shirts, key-rings and gaming accessories.
By 2am, the queue had died down and the store closed ready to re-open again this morning for a full day’s trading.
On Twitter, the store’s official account @GAMEBarnstaple posted: “Thanks again for the FANTASTIC turnout. Doors open again at 0800 hours. Bring in those trade ins to get an extra 33% towards the season pass.”
