Immigration questions
TWO suspected immigration offenders have been arrested after a UK Border Agency raid on a Lynton restaurant.
The two Bangladeshi men were detained last Thursday after being discovered in the Tanmoye Restaurant.
Officers raided the business in Lee Road at 6pm just after it opened.
The UK Border Agency alleged a 49-year-old Bangladeshi man who was preparing food in the kitchen was found to have no right to work in the UK.
He was arrested on suspicion of entering the UK illegally and taken to Barnstaple police station.
A second Bangladeshi man, aged 46, was found in an adjacent room, but was not working in the restaurant.
He was also arrested and taken to Barnstaple police station where he was due to be questioned on suspicion of overstaying his visa.
If it is confirmed the men are immigration offenders, the UK Border Agency said steps would be taken to remove them from the UK. All other people on the premises were cleared by officers.
