Jack Osmond builds seven foot snowman on Exmoor
THE latest bout of snow presented the ideal opportunity for one man to try his hand at creating North Devon's biggest snowman.
Jack Osmond, 24, who lives at Holdstone Down on Exmoor, made the most of being snowed in and unable to get to work by building himself a frosty friend which ended up overtaking him in height.
Using a wheelie bin, a shovel and a step ladder, Jack started building the snowman at 10am and it took him more than six hours to complete.
Jack, who works at Stags Estate Agents in Barnstaple, said: "After about two hours I came inside, sat by the fire and had lunch.

"This is when I hit the wall, and very nearly gave up. I had a few encouraging tweets during lunch, so I felt like I couldn't let anyone down. So back out I went.
"The hardest bit was carrying the head up the ladder and putting it in place. It was a lot of time and effort for something that's essentially just going to melt, but I actually got quite a sense of achievement.
"Any bigger and I think I may have needed to get planning permission."

“The picture doesn't seem to do justice to this worthy effort, which seems to be taken after considerable melting?
How high was this snowman?
I believe Jack is quite diminutive and can't imagine that even on a stepladder he will have little more reach than about 7 foot?”
