Channel 4 has revealed more details about its documentary following former members of the Jackson 5 on a summer visit to Appledore.

The Cutting Edge programme titled The Jacksons Are Coming follows the family on their search for a holiday home.

But Channel 4 says it uncovers a surprising story of trust and betrayal.

On its website the company says: "How do the folk of Appledore cope with their new famous neighbours and the world's media?

"And when the dream turns sour for the Jackson family how will a ten-year family friendship survive?

"It is a revealing film about celebrity life; what begins as a behind-the-scenes venture soon uncovers a surprising story of trust and betrayal while providing an intimate snapshot of one of the world's most famous families in showbiz."

Nine of pop's most famous family moved into a house on Staddon Road for a month at the beginning of the summer.

Local martial arts expert and celebrity security guard Matt Fiddes features in the film. He is said to be a long-term friend of the family.

Michael's mother, Katharine and his brothers Tito, Jackie and Jermaine, who formed part of the Jackson 5, all came to the fishing village.

Despite much anticipation, the two biggest stars of the family, Michael and Janet, never came to North Devon.

However, Tito's son Taj, a member of pop band 3T and Jackie's son Siggy — a rapper otherwise known as Dealz — also came along with Jermaine's wife Halima Rashid, Tito's girlfriend Claudia Lynx and relation Trent Jackson.

The film has been made by Jane Preston, produced by Lambert Studios and commissioned by Channel 4.

Jane was asked if she would like to make the film by the Jacksons' agent.

It will be aired at Channel 4 on Thursday, November 27, at 9pm.

“I was walking on Instow beach during their visit and apart from the 2 camermen making the documentary there was no-one following them when I was there a good hour at least. The people on the beach that day didn't take any notice of them since more interested in walking their dogs. So they were not hounded at all times whilst here.”

“Having watched the programme last night, I can't understand why The Jacksons weren't happy with the amount of media cover they received. The are one of the most well known families in the world and if you make a documentary about your possibly move to Devon, what more could they of expected. It is something you have to deal with if your famous.”
