Jobs at Barnstaple’s Jessops store in jeopardy as company goes into administration
Jobs at Barnstaple’s Jessops store could be at risk after the company announced it had been placed into administration.
The camera chain, which has a store in the High Street, confirmed it had gone into administration yesterday afternoon following mounting speculation. Administrators said store closures were “inevitable”.

Jessops is Britain’s only specialist nationwide camera retailer and owns nearly 200 stores.
Around 2,000 jobs nationwide are thought to be at risk.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has been appointed administrators to the group.
It marks the first high-profile retail collapse of 2013 and comes soon after consumer electricals chain Comet hit the wall, sparking more than 6,000 job losses.
Jessops, which has its headquarters in Leicester, has suffered in recent years from online competition and the boom in camera phones, which has hit demand for digital cameras.
Other stores in Devon which could be affected include Exeter and Torquay.
Jessops is not currently honouring customer vouchers or accepting returned goods.
