Judge requests psychiatric report on violent Barnstaple teenager
A JUDGE has ordered a psychiatric report on a teenager who admitted an assault on Bideford Quay.
Jake O'Regan, 18, of Granary Court, Barnstaple, admitted assaulting James Hayward, causing actual bodily harm and was remanded in custody by Judge Francis Gilbert, QC, at Exeter Crown Court.

The judge ordered a psychiatric report after being told by defence barrister David Sapiecha that it may be helpful in deciding a sentence.
O'Regan was committed for sentence by North Devon magistrates after they were told the victim was attacked with a bottle and then kicked while on the ground.

The incident happened near the Lundy Island office on Bideford Quay when both men were drinking with a group of friends and caused the victim to lose consciousness.
