Just making a Headstart
HAIRDRESSING apprentices from Bideford have been putting on extra and discounted appointments for those with learning disabilities.
To mark National Apprenticeship Week the trainees have helped residents of Bideford's Mount Raleigh House make appointments and visit hairdressers independently.

SALON: Stephanie Johnson, quality manager; Dawn Benha, manager; Suzanna Roger, assistant manager and Sarah Lewis, trainee.
Residents of Mount Raleigh have taken a tour of Headstart salon in the High Street, run by Torridge Training Services with support workers.
Amy Hawking, 23, is just one of the Mount Raleigh tenants who will benefit from the scheme.
She said: "I haven't been to have my hair done before, a friend usually does it, so it's going to be an exciting new experience for me. I have been to see the salon, which looks great and I feel confident about being there on my own, which is exciting too."
The benefits of the project, which was launched as part of National Apprenticeship Week, from February 1 to 5, mean it is set to continue.
