Kite surfer airlifted to hospital after crashing into rocks at Saunton Sands
A 63-YEAR-OLD kite surfer was airlifted to hospital yesterday afternoon (October 17) after he hit rocks at Saunton Sands.
Croyde Coastguard, a search and rescue helicopter from RMB Chivenor and police attended the scene at 3.30pm.

The man who is thought to be 63-years-old and from Essex was walking away from the beach when the search and rescue crew stopped him and flew him to North Devon District Hospital.
Sergeant Rob Wilcocks said: "The police had several calls from members of the public who had seen the kite surfer crash into the rocks at the West end of the beach but he was fine he just had some cuts and bruises.

Swansea Coastguard Watch Manager David Jones said: "Coastguard warns sports enthusiasts to always check conditions and tides before setting off.
"Don't go alone and always wear a personal floatation device. Wear bright clothing which will help you be located if you get into difficulty."
