Landkey hit back as Elston wins his opening match
MARTIN ELSTON made a winning start in his first game in charge of Landkey Town in intermediate one.
But his team had to come from behind twice after Ryan Hawkes and a penalty from Toby Bennett put Braunton ahead.
Claudio Pinto and a spot kick from Dean Sherris made it 2-2 by half time, and Landkey pulled clear thanks to Scott Paton, Lee Kerswell and a free kick from Connor White.
Early pacesetters Lynton and Merton both dropped their first points of the season on Saturday.
Martin Rawle scrambled Lynton ahead against Woolsery who had seen Ryan Mudway hit the bar with a penalty. Marc Clark grabbed the late equaliser.
Merton needed an equaliser from Tom Parish to earn a point at Ilfracombe Town after James O'Leary and Tom Goldsworthy (penalty) put the hosts 2-1 up. Merton's best start for several seasons looked set to continue when they led with a rare goal from Sam Munday.
Rawle was on target for Lynton in midweek too, helping them win the derby against Ilfracombe. CJ Roberts and an own goal gave them the edge, while Combe stayed in touch through player-manager Neil Reed and Tom Goldsworthy.
On the same night, the match between Woolacombe and Braunton was abandoned in the first half due to a waterlogged pitch.
