LANDKEY are back on top of Intermediate One after taking advantage of some generous defending to beat Equalizers 3-1.

A clearance from the home goalkeeper struck Kieran Heywood, giving Jamie Hutton a tap-in, before Heywood robbed a defender to make it 2-0 at the break.

Andrew Parkhouse pulled a goal back but substitute Martin Elston settled the match, volleying the third.

Bob Ashton scored twice against his former club as Park United pulled clear in the second half, beating local rivals Northam Lions by the same scoreline.

The Lions competed well before the break but they were undone in a deadly 15-minute spell after Mark Lee headed United ahead.

Carl Jenkins claimed a consolation in the closing stages.

Park boss Pete Yarde said: "Their third team beat us twice last season and stopped us from being runners-up in Intermediate Two. So it wasn't just a derby, it was a little bit of revenge for us.

"Everyone was fired up for it and wanted to get the win for a bit of pride."

Sporting Barum ended a run of five straight defeats, twice coming from behind for a 2-2 draw with Braunton.

Kevin Hambleton cancelled out Martin Macdonald's early opener before Johnny Shury restored the lead.

Sporting's precious point was earned before half-time when Lee Byrne's 35-yard effort looped into the top corner.

Nick Holton, John Sandwell and Craig Scott all had chances to win the game for the hosts but it was Braunton who were most wasteful in front of goal, blazing a penalty over the bar and sending another shot skywards from point-blank range.
