Large crane fire blocks Barnstaple-bound carriageway of A377 near Lapford
One lane of the A377 towards Barnstaple is currently blocked in the Lapford area after a crane caught fire this morning.
Fire crews from Chulmleigh and Crediton were called to the scene, just before Lapford Bridge, at around 7.30am.
Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed a fire had occurred in the engine compartment of the crane. It is thought the vehicle overheated.
They wore breathing apparatus and used one hose reel jet and one compressed air foam jet to extinguish the blaze.
