SO what's next for Liz McClarnon? The singer reveals she has her first solo album coming out in August and a single out in May.

"I'm very excited. It's getting back to normal for me. Since I was 16 I have not really had my own free time and it's taking its toll on me because when I'm not doing anything, I twitch a bit."

That's not to say the singer, who first found fame in girl band Atomic Kitten, has not been busy. As well as being given her own cookery slot on LK Today after winning Celebrity MasterChef she's also been hosting the makeover series on BBC3, Hotter Than My Daughter — something she's clearly loving.

"I never realised how much I love car crash TV and making it is even better than watching it," she laughs. "You have to be a certain sort of person to enjoy that and hopefully I'm not going to hell."

Would she ever be tempted to swap her microphone for chef's whites permanently?

"It's absolutely brilliant. I love this TV lark, it's great. I really enjoy it. I'm about to get my advanced hygiene certificate. When someone with lots of money found that out, they suggested I run a restaurant and they would put all the money in. I'd have nothing to worry about but the creative side. And I went: 'Oh God no, that's like a real job. No thanks. I'm having a laugh'."

In the meantime she's getting excited about taking to the stage as the lead female in The War of Worlds alongside Jason Donovan.

"I love working on TV and I love cooking everything and all the fashion stuff, it's great. Singing, though, makes me feel different to everything else so I don't think I will ever be able to stop doing that."
