APPLEDORE Primary School has had lots of visitors helping celebrate the "science of colour" week.

Pupils met Master Jake, from Torrington 1646, who told the children about the colours available for clothes in the 17th century and Steve Eddy, from Exmoor Zoo, showed children some of the animals that have warning colours.

Other talks were given to pupils by Samantha Pickering, from Hempfabrics UK, Malcolm, who runs Heaven and Earth mineral and fossil shop, Sarah Chesters, from RHS Rosemoor, who showed children how to make natural plant dyes, and representatives from Cartwheels Collective who held literacy workshops.

Teaching staff from Bideford College helped children make rainbows and ran art workshops.
