Luke Treadaway of Crediton in The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time
DEVON-born Luke Treadaway received rave reviews for his performance in the National Theatre's Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time and now the play is transferring to the Apollo Theatre in the West End.
The play, adapted from Mark Haddon's best-selling novel of the same name, tells the story of Christopher John Francis Boone, a 15-year-old boy who describes himself as "a mathematician with some behavioral difficulties".
Luke, looking younger than his 28 years, plays Christopher with a physicality he describes as "playing rugby for two and a half hours every night" and an intensity befitting the young protagonist who suffers from some unexplained disability akin to Asperger's or high-functioning autism.
Luke was brought up in Sandford, near Crediton, his father an architect and his mother a teacher. He is a twin and brother Harry is also an actor.

The pair went to the local primary school and then on to Queen Elizabeth's Community College in Crediton. He and Harry first came to some local prominence after forming a band called Lizardsun.
They spent two summers with the National Youth Theatre before becoming the first ever set of twins to win coveted places at Lamda, the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
The two came to prominence in a film called Brothers Of The Head, playing conjoined twins in a rock band. These days, although they support each other, they avoid acting together, preferring to forge their own separate careers.
The Curious Incident Of The Dog In the Night-Time transferred to the Apollo Theatre, London WI, on Friday.
