ALBERT Mackenzie missed out on a place in the final stage of the European Seniors Tour Qualifying School by three shots.

The Saunton pro had rounds of 78 and 74 in the 36-hole stage-one qualifier in Portugal, missing the qualifying score of 149.

Mackenzie, writing on his blog, said: "Although I was a long way short of my best, I did not make life easy for myself."

Royal North Devon reached the second round of the Mail on Sunday Classic with 3½-1½ win over Ilfracombe.
