Man, 51, arrested on suspicion of murder on Exmoor following woman's death
Devon and Cornwall Police have this morning arrested a man on suspicion of murder in connection with a woman's death in Wiltshire.
Richard Gordon Newton was located in Dulverton just before 9am this morning.
Police were searching for the 51-year-old man after a woman's body was found on Sunday morning.
They believe he may hold "vital information" regarding the death of the woman, who is yet to be formally identified.
Avon and Somerset police found Newton's blue Volkswagen Polo unattended at Dry Bridge, Brendon Common on Exmoor at around 12.30pm yesterday.
Devon and Cornwall Police, Exmoor Search and Rescue and a crew from RMB Chivenor were also involved in the search.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokeswoman said today: “A 51-year-old man was arrested in Dulverton shortly before 9am.
“He is in custody and will be transferred to the Wiltshire force.”
