Man appears in court accused of violent sexual assaults in Barnstaple
A MAN has been remanded in custody after appearing at Exeter Crown Court accused of two violent sexual assaults in Barnstaple.
Michael Enfield, 25, did not make a plea and Judge Francis Gilbert QC adjourned the case until March 21, when pleas are likely to be taken.
Enfield, who is now in custody and previously gave a Barnstaple address, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at his home on December 29, 2012, and a second sexual assault on a woman near the Venue nightclub on February 17 this year.
Terry Holder, prosecuting, said the video recorded interviews of the complainants are being reviewed to see if they disclose other offences.
