Man arrested on Exmoor following Wiltshire body find is ‘hospitalised’
A 51-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder on Exmoor yesterday is currently receiving hospital treatment, according to police.
Richard Gordon Newton was arrested by Devon and Cornwall Police in Dulverton at around 9.25am in connection with a woman's death in Wiltshire.
Officers launched a search to locate him on Sunday after his blue Volkswagen Polo was discovered abandoned at Dry Bridge, Brendon Common on Exmoor.
The woman, whose body was found at a house in Melksham, Wiltshire, on Sunday morning, is yet to be formally identified.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson this morning confirmed the arrested man was receiving treatment in hospital.
He said: “The 51-year-old man arrested yesterday on suspicion of the murder of a woman in Melksham is currently receiving hospital treatment.
“As is procedure with all detainees, the man was assessed at the custody suite and treatment was deemed necessary.
“He remains under arrest and is being guarded by police officers whilst in hospital.
“He is likely to be discharged in a few days and upon release from hospital will be taken to Melksham Police Station for interview.”
