The scene remained cordoned off for most of yesterday and there was a heavy police presence in the area.
Isaac Bavington has been staying at a house in Treefield Walk while renovating it.
Yesterday, he said he hadn't seen or heard anything prior to the man's death.
"The first I knew was when there was a knock on the door from the police" he said.
"They said there was a man dead on the pavement. I was pretty shocked, we didn't see anything last night or this morning."
Another neighbour said she had also been unaware anything had happened, until she heard sirens.
"I looked out and saw all the police tape around the top of the path," said the woman, who didn't wish to be named.
"The police didn't tell me much but it was obviously quite serious because of the number of police involved."
