The crew wore breathing apparatus and used one hose reel jet and one covering jet to extinguish the fire.
Neil Hole, Watch Manager, said the fire remained confined to the vehicle but said the crew managed to catch it early before it spread elsewhere.
He said: “The car filled with smoke fairly rapidly.
“Another 30 seconds and it would’ve been a different situation. The fire would’ve developed and it would’ve been a different scenario, especially as it was so close to the house.
“The vehicle is badly damaged inside. It’s caused moderate fire and smoke damage to the car.”
Mr Hole said the cause of the fire was believed to be an electrical fault.
