MARLAND School near Torrington has opened a new motor-vehicle workshop.

Students will be able to gain practical experience in mechanics and body work at the new workshop.

Assistant principal Gareth MacIver said the school was glad to see it open.

Mark Stratton will be employed as the tutor and one group will be restoring an old American police cruiser and another converting a VW Polo into a dual control buggy that can be used on the school track.

The workshop will enable the children to gain motor vehicle qualifications.

The school thanked John Taylor Fasteners and Draper tools who helped equip the workshop.
