He will aim to guide Holsworthy away from the lower reaches of first division (west) where they have struggled this season.

Outgoing manager Steve Lewis and assistant Gareth Martyn took charge of the team for the final time last night, when Holsworthy were beaten 2-0 by Callington.

After the 11-0 thrashing at Helston Athletic and 8-1 defeat at St Dennis, it was a much-improved performance by the Magpies.

Although two goals from Ben Langton rewarded the visitors' dominance, Holsworthy defended stubbornly with Dean Chidley and Liam Dart paired together in the centre.

Goalkeeper Chris Pearce made a number of saves to prevent further damage.

Holsworthy's only real chance fell to Dom Abbott who took the ball around goalkeeper Jamie Blatchford but shot wide.

With nine games to play, the Magpies remain third from bottom and six points clear of the bottom two.
