BANK Holiday Monday will see the return of hundreds of Minis to Ilfracombe for this year's Legendary Grand Tour Mini rally.

Organisers are inviting people to join the celebrations by bringing picnics to Capstone Hill to see the array of Minis in the procession.

The town has been part of the rally for years and organisers hope to see at least 3,000 people turn out for the event.

The Minis will be leaving Bideford on Sunday, August 29, at 11am from Victoria Park and will be travelling through Hartland, Woolsery, Langtree, Taddiport and arriving at Dartington Crystal, Torrington in the afternoon.

Bank Holiday Monday will see the convoy, accompanied by a marching band, set off from Westward Ho! at 11am, after which they will go through Instow, Barnstaple, Bishops Tawton, Landkey, Snapper, Bratton Fleming, Lynton, Combe Martin and finally Ilfracombe.

The Minis are expected to roll into Ilfracombe between 3pm and 3.30pm on Monday, after which the raffle prizes will be awarded.

For those that simply cannot wait that long, you can also catch a glimpse of a slightly smaller procession on Saturday night as they undertake their annual "Kebab Cruise" from Northam Burrows to Bideford Quay.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Children's Hospice South West, Great Ormond Street Hospital and St John Ambulance. Since its launch 16 years ago, the rally has raised more than £250,000, and organisers are keen to add to that this year.

“Fred Smith alias who? Just another grumpy old man who does'nt have a life and can't bear to see anyone else enjoying themselves. Also ignoring the fact that the mini run not only collects large sums of money for a deserving charity, it also brings much needed cash into the region, because these mini drivers and passengers have to eat and stay somewhere.”

“Oooo have I hit a nerve, and what a very punile comment "go stand in the road" laughable really. As no one has jumped up to support your comment I think you had better take it you are the only one who objects. Better stay in Witheridge when the mini's go out dont want you upset at some folks not only having a good time but raising lots of money for charity. What next stop the Southwest truckers run cos they have even bigger vehicles and horns....I think not.”
