A SOMERSET man who works as an IT project manager at Mole Valley Famers has been clocked driving at 93mph on the North Devon Link Road.

Peter St John Robinson, 54, was travelling to work in South Molton on December 5 when a police car parked in a lay-by off the A361 near Knowstone saw him pass at speed in his Audi company car, before following and stopping him.

Rod Ball, for the defence, said: "There's no suggestion he was driving badly apart from the speed," he said. "And he wasn't late for work."

He told magistrates' Robinson needed to travel for work and would be rolling out a new IT project in the next few weeks, which means he will need to travel to Lincolnshire on several occasions. As such, Robinson, of 24 Campkin Road, Wells, was spared a ban by presiding magistrate Paul Cooper. He was given six points, a fine of £565 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £56.
