MOLLY MEES is Budehaven Community School's first West indoor rowing champion.

Molly rowed the equivalent of 1,058m in four minutes to take the Year 9 girls title in the West Region Indoor Schools Rowing Competition at Plymouth Marjon university.

Charlie White, of Bideford College, won the Year 10 boys, covering 1,502m in five minutes.

Almost 400 pupils from 38 schools took part, with those in Years 7 to 11 rowing for a set time and Years 12 and 13 timed for covering 2,000m.

Budehaven's next best result was also in the Year 9 girls, with Gussie Clayton rowing 942m for seventh place.
