NOT GREAT: Stars of Scott Pilgrim VS The World.
Alas, it is not a patch on either of those movies and much like Kick-Ass, it promises much but crushingly fails to deliver.
Meet charming and jobless Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) bass guitarist for totally average garage band Sex Bob-omb, the 22-year-old has just met the girl of his dreams — literally.
The only catch to winning Ramona Flowers?
Her seven evil, ex boyfriends are coming to kill him.
From the girl who stole his heart to the teenage distraction he's trying to dump when Ramona rollerblades into his world, love hasn't been easy.
He soon discovers, however, his new crush has the most unusual baggage of all: a nefarious league of ex boyfriends who control her love life and will do whatever it takes to eliminate him as a suitor.
As Scott gets closer to Ramona, he must face an increasingly vicious rogues' gallery from her past — from infamous skateboarders to vegan rock stars and fearsomely identical twins.
And if he hopes to win his true love, he must vanquish them all before it really is game over.
Desperately underwhelming and Cera is hopelessly miscast — not great at all.
GROWN UPS
ADAM Sandler is box office gold again in this smash hit US comedy which will not win any prizes for maturity but if you are a Sandler fan then this is your movie of choice.
Grown Ups, starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider and David Spade, is a comedy about five friends and former teammates who reunite years later to honour the passing of their childhood basketball coach.
With their wives (Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, Maya Rudolph) and kids in tow, they spend the Fourth of July holiday weekend together at the lake house where they celebrated their championship years earlier.
Picking up where they left off, they discover why growing older doesn't mean growing up.
I have never been a Sandler fan and Grown Ups will not change my mind, but if you want to see five grown up men behaving badly to a classic 1980s soundtrack, then you will be buying a ticket when it opens in cinemas today.
