New CCTV camera for Pilton in Barnstaple
A NEW CCTV camera is to be installed in Pilton at a cost of £20,000. A further £12,000 is to be invested in the Rotary Gardens for improvements.
The projects will be funded by North Devon Council through section 106 money provided by local development.
Members of the authority's executive agreed to release the cash when they met on Tuesday.
Proposals for CCTV were identified through a consultation day three years ago and have been recently highlighted by police, councillors and members of the community. The camera will be monitored through the CCTV control room in Barnstaple and it is hoped mitigate anti-social behaviour in Pilton Park, Pilton Causeway and the toilet area.

“£20,000? That is a ridiculous amount of money for a CCTV camera!”
