The North Devon League football season will be extended until the end of May.

The management committee last night approved an extension, of about three weeks, to May 31 "due to the adverse weather conditions".

Some teams have played as few as eight league matches in 24 weeks because of waterlogged pitches and last month's snow.

The season started on August 18 and was due to finish on May 11.

The Braunton third team and Barnstaple AAC reserves, in intermediate one, have completed most games on 17.
