North Devon chairman of UKIP Steve Crowther centre of gay marriage scandal

THE North Devon based chairman of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) has been at the centre of a row which has broken out after the party's youth leader was fired.

An email from Steve Crowther was made public on the internet on Tuesday night, revealing Young Independence interim Chairman Oliver Neville had been removed from his position over his support of gay marriage.

Prior to the e-mail being made public social networking site Twitter was rife with rumours as to why Mr Neville had been sacked.

UKIP press officer, Gawain Towler, then issued a clarification on Twitter that the UKIP National Executive Committee had removed him because of his promotion of non-party policy.
