PREVIEW: Budapest Cafe Orchestra head to the Plough in Torrington
FOR powerful and driving folk-based music from Eastern Europe, inspired by the music of European gypsies, head to the Plough next Thursday. The Budapest Cafe Orchestra are four fabulous players of violins, guitar, accordion, double bass, saz and balalaika.
Expect an impassioned and tender mixture of Hungarian czardas, Russian and Ukranian folk songs and dances from Romania and Moldavia, as well as their own electrifying compositions.

The music evokes vivid images of Tzigane fiddle maestros, Budapest café life and gypsy campfires.
The orchestra boasts some of the country's most revered international stars: Eddie Hession has accompanied Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, and is a supreme accordion champion of Great Britain; Chris Garrick is one of Europe's most celebrated jazz violinists and has performed with Dame Cleo Laine, Sir John Dankworth and Nigel Kennedy.
