Parracombe man accused of swindling neighbour
A PARRACOMBE resident has appeared at Exeter Crown Court accused of swindling a neighbour out of £13,000 which he invested on his behalf.
William Hoveman, 60, did not enter a plea and spoke only to confirm his name during a short procedural hearing before resident Judge Francis Gilbert, QC.
Hoveman, of South Hill House, Parracombe, is alleged to have defrauded John Gibson between May 2010 and March 2011.
He is also accused of withdrawing £1,750 from £27,000 Mr Gibson invested through him and misleading Mr Gibson by telling him £1,750 had been lost through poor returns.
