PATIENTS and carers are invited to help shape and improve the care provided by Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust (NDHT).

A patients group called the Trust and Devon Local Involvement Network (LINk) is staging an event next Monday.

They want to hear from people who have something to say about healthcare and how the trust, which runs the district hospital, engages with patients.

The event takes place between 10am and 3pm at Cedars Inn in Barnstaple. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Any patient or carer, past or present, is welcome.

Jenny Jacobs, NDHT patient and public involvement manager, said: "The whole aim is to make sure we build services around the needs of patients, now and in the future.

"Healthcare moves so fast that we need ongoing participation from patients and carers to make sure their voices are always heard.

“In my opinion it wasnt the care from the hospital staff that I had a concern with, it their adminstration system which seems to be a big issue. Over 2 years I have had so many appointments cancelled and been messed about and even when I complained that didnt get me anywhere. They need to look at the admin and the admin staff and those who run the receptions for the various depatments.”
