Pensioner found drunkenly muttering to himself in Rock Park public toilets
A PENSIONER found drunkenly muttering to himself in public toilets has admitted being drunk and disorderly.
David John Thompson, 73, of Hilldales Residential Home in Ilfracombe, could barely wait for North Devon Magistrates' Court's legal adviser to put the charge to him, blurting out, "guilty, lady, yes, I'm guilty" as she read from the court list.

Lyndsey Baker, for the prosecution, told magistrates police had been called to the public toilets in Rock Park on January 30 after a report that Thompson had been abusive towards members of the public.
She said: "Police found the defendant stood in the corner of the toilets holding a bottle of Frosty Jack's. He swore at an officer and was unsteady with his eyes glazed over."

The officers took Thompson outside where he continued to shout and swear in front of a group of teenagers and around ten children aged between three and ten, who were nearby with their parents.
Thompson, who has a long list of previous convictions for similar offences, was unrepresented in court.
"I know I'm guilty," he said, "I shouldn't have done it in the first place."
Presiding magistrate Terry Robins told Thompson: "This isn't the sort of behaviour we expect to see, especially in front of children."
Mr Robins gave Thompson a conditional discharge and ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £15, and warned him the court would not be so lenient if he appeared again.
