People evacuated from homes in Barnstaple after River Yeo bursts its banks
Hundreds of people have been evacuated from their homes in Barnstaple tonight after the River Yeo burst its banks.
Residents in Pilton including those in properties in St George’s Road and Raleigh Road have been evacuated this evening.

It comes just hours after Braunton residents were evacuated due to flooding after the River Caen burst its banks this morning.

As of 10.30pm, six severe flood warnings - which warn of a danger to life - remain in place for the South West.
In North Devon, the Environment Agency has issued severe flood warnings for the River Yeo and River Caen.
Properties between Snapper and Barnstaple, including Fish Farm, Underwood Meadows and The Old Water Mill are at high risk of flooding as well as those in the Raleigh and Pilton areas of Barnstaple including Raleigh Meadow, Green Meadow Drive and Pilton Park.
A refuge centre has been set up at Pilton Community College to provide shelter and accommodation for those who have been evacuated.
In Braunton, flood warnings remain in place for properties in South Street, Station Road, Velator Industrial Estate, Dean's Bridge, Chaloners Road, Caen Street and Chapel Street.
The River Caen has also breached again this evening and, despite multi-agency efforts, the square in Braunton is continuing to flood.
Braunton Academy has now been opened as an evacuation assembly point for residents and passing motorists.
Environment Agency officials will remain at flooding sites throughout the night to monitor the situation.
Barnstaple and Braunton remain mostly cut off this evening as roads and rail lines remain closed to the public.
The A361 remains closed between Barnstaple and Braunton. The A39 from Barnstaple to Ilfracombe and the A399 from Barnstaple to Lynton also remain closed this evening.
Devon and Cornwall Police also confirmed all minor roads in the area north of Barnstaple are closed tonight due to extensive flooding.
Other roads affected by flooding this evening are the A39 Shirwell Road, the A399 in Combe Martin, the A377 at Chulmleigh and the B3231 Saunton Road.
The public are being warned not to attempt to travel on these roads and not to travel through any floodwater.
All trains between Barnstaple and Exeter St. David’s have been cancelled and there are currently no rail replacement buses.
Many people have taken to Twitter to share news of the flooding.
James Gleave wrote: “Barnstaple effectively cut off. All major roads & only rail route in closed due to flooding. #ukflood”
Josh Blackman posted: “I feel so sorry for the families affected by this. People's Christmas's are ruined :( #Barnstaple #braunton.”"
