Plans for turbines withdrawn
PLANS for three 99-metre wind turbines near Ilfracombe have been withdrawn.
But applicant BT says it hopes to resubmit the plans later this year after further public consultation.
BT submitted the plans for three 2.5 Megawatt turbines at Great Shelfin near Mullacott Cross in March 2010.
The plans received criticism from some residents and councillors who said it would dominate and destroy coastal views.
However, BT withdrew the plans on January 24 this year.
BT spokesman Jason Mann said: "BT wishes to carry out further consultations with the local community and other stakeholders about its proposals for three wind turbines at Great Shelfin near Ilfracombe.
"In order to give us time to do so, we have withdrawn our current planning application and intend to submit a revised application later this year.
"This decision underlines BT's stated commitment to delivering a project that will bring considerable benefits to Ilfracombe and North Devon for many years to come."

“Bad news that the plans are being withdrawn. A good chance to help with the environment and provide a cleaner fuel. The NIMBY's shouldn't be allowed to stop it as it most certainly will benefit more people than the couple that it offends.
Lets get this, and other projects like it, up and running. The alternatives are much worse, you all know it makes sense.”
