Problems could see mini rally move from Westward Ho!
THIS year could be the last time that the bank holiday Grand Mini Tour sets off from Westward Ho!
Terry Baker, from the North Devon Mini Register, which organises the event, said his concerns were that as the minis stopped at the Heywood roundabout, other cars could break up the convoy.
In addition, parking on one side of Westward Ho!'s promenade had been lost and the organisation was struggling for camping space in the area for those joining in the tour.
He said: "Unless you organise something like this, you will never know how fantastic the people of North Devon really are and it is the reason why I love it so much.
"But unless I can find the help I need to help me with my concerns, I will move the event out of Westward Ho! or even give it up.
"It is not an easy decision to make after so long but in the interests of safety and responsibilities I feel we have no option.
"Over the past few years we have seen the numbers of spectators grow right across the county not just in Westward Ho! but also in the streets and villages that we go through."
Last year more than 2,500 people, not including the mini drivers, were in Westward Ho! to witness the event.
The 16th annual three day starting on Saturday, August 28 will visit Westward Ho!, Bideford, Hartland, Langtree, Torrington, Bishops Tawton, Landkey, Bratton Flemming, Lynton, Combe Martin and Ilfracombe.
