Jane Francis from the group said: "Bernard Jones was the chairman of the evening with a plethora of the proverbials, introducing each act with an eloquence of phrase that had to be heard to be believed.
"The acts ranged from the Incredibly Strong Mr Mint to melodramas involving devious squires, virtuous maidens, the Metropolitan police and some cunning thieves.
"Miss Leonars's Young Ladies sang and danced, and the chorus was beyond compare."
