PCS union members on strike
SOME public servants went on strike in North Devon this week.
Members of the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) took part in a 48 hour strike over changes to redundancy terms.
Jessica Pearce, PCS regional secretary said two or three workers were on strike at the Ministry of Defence in Instow.
She said she did not know of any other workers on strike in the area currently.
However, North Devon Magistrates Court confirmed six of their administrators were also on strike, but the court was running.
The coastguard service confirmed they were not affected by the strike.
The union said the changes to the redundancy scheme would see staff lose up to a third of their entitlements if they were forced out of a job.

“Marvellous news. Taxpayer-subsidised indolence so a bunch of shouty penpushers can get better pay-off terms, which will be further paid for by the taxpayer.”

“For your info, it was Thatcher who introduced the CSCS and saw it as a fair scheme. It is New Labour who are ripping it up. And how many of those civil servants you wouldn't miss have provided a service for you? Many many more than you think”
