Rail closures announced for Tarka Line between Barnstaple and Crediton this month
THE Tarka Line will close twice this month for Network Rail to carry out work on the track.
The line will be closed between Crediton and Barnstaple from next Monday, March 11, until 3pm next Wednesday, March 13 and will also be closed over the weekend of March 23 and 24.

The first closure will see track relayed and a bridge strengthened near Lapford as well as track improvement work near Umberleigh, where the line is regularly flooded.
During those works train operator First Great Western will operate train services between Exeter and Crediton, with a bus replacement service serving all stations north of Crediton, through to Barnstaple.

The second closure will see buses replace trains along the length of the line as engineers carry out further track renewals around Umberleigh.
Tim Maddocks, Network Rail's customer service manager for the West Country, said: "Working with First Great Western, we've been able to plan this vital work in a way that avoids the busy Easter weekend.
"We would like to thank passengers for their patience while we complete these essential improvement works to make the Tarka line safer, smoother and more reliable."
