ON reading John Barum's recent article describing the negative letters received in response to his piece on pheasant shooting, I felt moved to tell you how much I appreciated and enjoyed reading the article — it's about the only thing that's really caught my eye since moving here six years ago.

I absolutely hate to see the carnage of pheasants strewn across the roads — it's cruel, dangerous to drivers (as was said) and as far as I can see completely unnecessary... I am so relieved to hear somebody highlight the issue as you did so well, so a big thank you.
