TORRINGTON'S mayor has paid tribute to the town's secondary school head teacher who will be retiring at the end of term.

Dianne Nicholson will be leaving after 11 years at Great Torrington School.

Town mayor Sue Mills presented Mrs Nicholson with a certificate in recognition of her dedication.

She said: "We truly appreciated all the hard work you have put in and wish you happy days to come."

Mrs Nicholson said it was a pleasure to serve the community and she was "really proud" of the school.
