Tiverton Town are growing frustrated at the lack of chances to extend their unbeaten run, according to their assistant manager, Hedley Steele.

The Yellows' game at Mangotsfield United was postponed last weekend and they are not scheduled to have another competitive run-out until next Tuesday, when they host Bishop's Cleeve in an Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South and West fixture.

By the time they take to the Ladysmead turf for that encounter, Tivvy will have gone three weeks without a meaningful match, having not played since beating Bideford 2-1 in the Devon St Luke's Cup at the end of January.

The Yellows have arranged a friendly at home to Torquay United for tonight (7.30pm kick-off) in a bid to gain some much-needed practice. Steele said: "It adds to the frustration of not playing when you are on the run we were on.

"We have had a spell of success over the last few weeks, we prepared for the game, and at the last minute the plug got pulled – it's frustrating.

"Even though Saturday was called off, the lads are wanting to know if we can still get together, they are disappointed when the games are off and they are keen as anything to be playing, which is a good sign.

"Our form has been built on a strong work ethic and we don't expect them to forget that. They know the demands when a competitive fixture comes along and if they are left wanting their place in the team will be under threat."

As well as playing Torquay tonight, the Yellows will take on Willand Rovers at Silver Street on Saturday in another friendly, after the Toolstation Western League Premier Division side's fixture at the weekend against FA Vase combatants Larkhall Athletic was postponed.

Tivvy's neighbours Elmore will host Cullompton Rangers in a friendly at Horsdon Park tonight as they look to regain match fitness.

The Eagles have not played in a month following a number of postponements due to the cold weather, with last Saturday's Toolstation Western League First Division game at home to Devizes Town the latest victim.

Chris Vinnicombe's men are scheduled to take on Premier Division outfit Merthyr Town on Saturday in the second round of the Les Phillips Cup, and the manager wants some match action for his players before the clash.

"We have Merthyr Town in the Cup and we could struggle, having not played in the League for so long. We could come unstuck, so a friendly is useful," Vinnicombe said of this evening's match, which kicks off at 7.30pm.
