Road closed after car hits bank and overturns in Muddiford

Two people have suffered possible injuries after their car hit a bank and overturned near Muddiford this morning.

The two occupants of the blue Vauxhall Astra were out of the car when emergency services arrived at around 9am, but police said the female passenger was “not feeling too great”.

An ambulance was called to the scene, on a minor road near to The Muddiford Inn & Restaurant, and paramedics are currently checking the two casualties over.

It is understood neither the male driver or female passenger suffered any serious injuries.

Police said there was quite a lot of mud on the road in the area and highways crews were called to clear it.

The road was closed from the A39 junction for around one hour while the vehicle was recovered and debris cleared from the road.

It was reopened by 10.30am.
