ROAD closures for Torrington's May Fair celebrations have now been granted for the correct day.

Devon County Council gives permission for roads, such as the Square, to be closed during the May Fair celebrations.

However, the road order was made out for all day on Friday May 7, instead of Thursday May 6, because of an administration error in the application form.

But the May Fair Committee and county councillor Andy Boyd have made sure the application has been amended so as not to jeopardise the town's biggest event of the year.

Cllr Boyd said the committee and he got in touch with the highways team at the county council as soon as the error was picked up.

He said: "The highways officers pulled out all the stops to make sure it got sorted."

Road closures are confirmed on Wednesday May 5 in the evening; all day on Thursday May 6; the evening of Friday May 7 for the Round the Tree Race and on Saturday May 8 for the carnival.
