Scenes for Tom Cruise alien battle film All You Need Is Kill shot at Saunton Sands
SCENES from a new Hollywood blockbuster featuring Tom Cruise were filmed at Saunton Sands on Sunday – although the pint-sized actor did not take part.
A helicopter with a fixed camera filmed background scenes at the beach for the upcoming movie All You Need Is Kill which is due to be released in 2014.
A car park attendant at Saunton Sands, who wished to remain nameless, said: "There are no actors here though, they are just filming the beach for background purposes. Tom Cruise is in London at the moment so he's definitely not in North Devon."
An employee of the Saunton Sands Hotel, who also wished to remain nameless, confirmed that six members of a film crew were staying at the hotel. She also confirmed that Tom Cruise was not staying there.

Peter Robinson, founder of the Museum of British Surfing in Braunton, posted the following on Facebook: "Scenes for a new Tom Cruise movie are being filmed by helicopter at Saunton at the moment.
"Apparently it's going to be green-screened to become a French beach – even though it was -0.5c this morning, with people in the sea wearing head to toe rubber."
The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) gave the following synopsis of the film: "A soldier fighting in a war with aliens finds himself caught in a time loop of his last day in the battle, though he becomes better skilled along the way."
The movie, which is being made by Warner Bros, also stars Emily Blunt, Charlotte Riley and Bill Paxton.
