INSTOW Parish Council will face its second election in as many months after North Devon Council received nominations from four candidates to fill the vacancy created by Charlie Harper's resignation.

The election will take place on March 28, with four candidates vying for the one seat available on the council. An election was held in February to fill three vacancies on the council.

The candidates are Shooey Maccall, who missed out on a seat at the February election, Pearl Edith Hackett, Paul Mills and John Leonard Hardelow.

There was less interest in two vacant seats on Swimbridge Parish Council. North Devon Council received just one nomination for a candidate to take the seats left vacant by the resignation of Mel Bartlett and the death of Bob King.

That means Gavin Coulstock has been elected unopposed while the remaining vacancy will be filled via co-option by the parish council.
