Heavy rain forecast for Devon as Met Office issues severe weather warning
Heavy rain is expected later in the week prompting forecasters to issue a severe weather warning for North Devon.
The Met Office has put a yellow-graded weather warning in place for the majority of Devon from midday on Thursday until 5pm on Friday.
Heavy and persistent showers are expected, with forecasters predicting up to 30mm of rainfall in some areas.
A chief forecaster at the Met Office said: “Persistent rain is expected to set in during Thursday, lasting until well into Friday in many areas, and particularly heavy over hills exposed to the south and southeast.

“An active frontal system, struggling to bring milder air into the south of the country, is expected to bring 20-30 mm of rainfall quite widely, and possibly in excess of 50 mm to some hilly districts.
“Some improvement seems likely later on Friday, but still with localised heavy showers.
“The public should be aware that this may cause some localised issues with flooding.”
