Singing for George's sight
A TEENAGE classical singer and her grandfather are staging a charity concert to raise cash for the blind German Shepherd dog George.
The eight-month-old puppy found new hope and a new life in Northam after being rescued by Devon German Shepherd Rescue co-ordinator Lin Lines.
Treatment to save George's sight is going to cost up to £4,000 and so Lin launched a fund-raising appeal to meet the cost of the operation.
Tamsin Ball, 16, read about the puppy's plight in the
Journal
and wanted to do something to help.
Her grandad, Maurice Heather, from Northam, said: "I used to have a German Shepherd and my grand-daughter is mad on dogs and wanted to see if there is something we could do to help. Tamsin has been in a lot of local theatre and is a classical singer. She is launching her CD and we are hoping to combine that with a concert to raise money for George."
The concert, featuring four acts — all local artists — will take place at the newly-refurbished Elizabethan in Westward Ho! on April 17 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5.
