TORRINGTON will be transformed into a winter wonderland this Christmas when a skating rink is built in the square.
The synthetic rink will be up for one day only to coincide with the town's Christmas lights switch on Sunday, December 9.

"I am excited, the rink comes with a snow machine too. I can't wait to see everything come together.
"There has been lots to organise. We started planning this back in January, it is more work than people think."
There will be free parking in the town all day and many shops will stay open for late night shopping.
Jayne said the £1,800 cost of the rink has been covered by local advertising. She said: "We are grateful to all the Torrington businesses who have sponsored the rink. Without their funding this wouldn't have happened. Torrington businesses are very loyal."
Despite the skating rink not being made of real ice, Jayne is certain people will enjoy themselves.
She said: "Even though the rink isn't made of ice, it's still unique. People can say they have skated right in the middle of Torrington.
"Hopefully the event will show people what the town has to offer. I have heard others talking about the rink and how much they are looking forward to seeing it.
"We are pretty sure this will be the only skating rink being placed in a town centre in North Devon."
Any profits made will go towards providing new lights for the Christmas tree next year.
The event, which has been named Torrington Christmas on Ice, will take place on Sunday, December 9 from 10am. The Christmas lights will be switched on at 5.30pm.
